See more at www.ashleighfarms.ie Role Overview The Farrowing Section Manager oversees all aspects of a pig farm’s farrowing operations, ensuring optimal sow and piglet health, productivity, and welfare. This role requires balancing hands-on animal care, record-keeping, and compliance with safety/environmental protocols. Key Responsibilities: Direct daily tasks in farrowing units: feeding, fostering, processing piglets, and monitoring sow health. Manage environmental controls (ventilation, temperature, bedding) and equipment maintenance. Implement protocols to minimise piglet mortality and maximise weaning rates. Coordinate with breeding/gestation teams for sow movements and farrowing schedules. Maintain accurate records of births, treatments, inventories, and equipment maintenance. Prepare weekly/monthly reports on productivity, costs, and herd health. Order supplies (feed, medications, bedding). Ensure adherence to bio-security protocols, animal welfare standards, and government regulations.
