Responsible for: As the farm manager in this specialised setting, you would work closely alongside both clinical and non-clinical teams supporting clients through their recovery process by oorganizing work and working alongside rehabilitation and detoxing clients in a therapeutic and supportive manner Reports to: Deputy head of Clinical Services MQI. Objective: To maintain a working farm while working alongside clients and support clients through their recovery. Located on a working Farm, Merchants Quay Ireland’s Drug-Free Detox & Rehabilitation Centre offers residential programmes aimed at providing detox & drug-free rehabilitation through a unique blend of individual and group work, education, and practical skills training in a rural farm setting. Agricultural managers (also known as farm managers) are responsible for planning, supervising and project managing work on farms. Main Responsibilities • Forward planning to make sure that orders can be met – for example, ensuring that enough farm workers will be available at key times and the equipment needed is in working order. • Budgeting and maintaining accurate records. • Organising sales and purchases of livestock, farm equipment, crops and agricultural products. • Hands-on tasks such as feeding animals. • Working in a therapeutic capacity with clients in recovery. • Making sure that work is done safely and in time to meet targets and orders. • Ensuring compliance with government regulations and health and safety standards. • Keeping an up-to-date knowledge of pests and diseases. • Responding to emergencies and solving problems effectively. • Organising maintenance/repair of farm property, equipment and machinery. • Advertising and marketing farm products or the work of the farmer.2 • Ability to liaise with Rehabilitation team and Detox team • Train residents in horticultural and agricultural tasks they are carrying out. • Supervision of Community Employment participants • Maintenance role of all buildings situated on the farm • Coordination of plumbers and electrician and house maintenance tasks • Basic knowledge of Department of Agriculture rules and regulations regarding payments of subsidies to the Farm and all Health and Safety regulations relating to the Farm and general Health and Safety steps. You’re likely to have to work some unsociable hours, especially during busy periods such as harvesting or lambing, although sometimes of year will be quieter. Person Specification The ideal candidate for this post must have: • Agricultural and Horticultural knowledge and experience around care of animals and the production of indoor and outdoor vegetables for the residential center • Organizational skills and effective communication skills, leadership skills, conflict resolution, time management, drug awareness • Organizing work and working alongside rehabilitation and detoxing clients in a therapeutic and supportive manner. • Work on one’s own initiative. • Hold a full Driver’s License: B, BE, W What does MQI Offer as an employer?
